If you aren't using mod_perl for backuppc you don't need to run httpd and
backuppc as the same user. Normally you don't use the web interface enough
that
the speed matters anyway. The cgi program can run setuid - it just has to be
owned by backuppc and executable by httpd.
But, you are kind of missing the point of having a backup if it's on the same
machine as the things being backed up.
