I have configured and tested a launch script that uses the system  
apache2 binary with a custom httpd.conf.

I had to do a self install of mod_perl2, but this was rather painless  
(just remember to include all the arch's in the fat binary). After  
that, I now have mod_apple_auth working with my macports backuppc  
install.

I will include a readme/walkthrough and example httpd.conf-apple +  
apple.apache2.launchd scripts in the next commit to macports.

I'm also in discussion with the apple open source representative for  
obtaining the mod_apple_auth source for inclusion in the macports httpd.
