Is there a way to limit the maximum time that a backup can run for? I
am almost certain that I can remember seeing this mentioned somewhere,
but can't find it in the documentation.
I have a couple of off-site servers connected via OpenVPN tunnels over
ADSL links that can (when a user dumps a load of file on them) take 24
to 36 hour to backup fully.
The problem with this is that a backup that runs during business hours
slows down the remote sites Internet access to an unacceptable level. I
would like my backup server to only run backups outside of business
hours (only run between 7pm to 6am) and if a backup takes longer, then
it should be aborted, then pick up again the next time the client is
backed up.
I believe that if a backup is aborted, then BackupPC will automatically
carry on from where it was stopped, so the last requirement should not
be an issue.
Can this be done? If so, can anyone point me to some instructions?
Thanks in advance.
