Exactly. You might use something like rsnapshot to generate regular
snapshots of your DLEs and for example re-export with Samba ...
I use this at several clients so the users can simply browse a share for
the "excel-file from Monday, at 2pm" ... ;-)
If you have enough diskspace, this is a very good way to keep people
from having to touch a tape when there are only single small files to
recover, e.g.
