Yes, but what does the /amandatape/data link point to?
This is how the amanda utils will address it.

The individual files in the slot6 directory can be unpacked with the
instructions you'll get from this command issued after cd'ing to a
scratch directory that has enough space to receive it:

dd 
if=/amandatapes/daily/slot6/0001.lnxdev.mnnc.com_caplan_unixdata_assdata.0

All on one line of course. :)  The file is a normal tarball, possibly
compressed with gzip, with a 32k long amanda header at the
front of the file.
