Thanks to all that replied to my initial post.  I have managed to get past
that by including "-s lnxdev.ncci.com -t lnxdev.ncci.com" as such:

# amrecover -C daily -s lnxdev.ncci.com -t lnxdev.ncci.com

However, now I am getting :

AMRECOVER Version 2.4.4p2. Contacting server on lnxdev.ncci.com ...
220 lnxdev AMANDA index server (2.4.4p2) ready.
200 Access OK
Setting restore date to today (2005-10-06)
200 Working date set to 2005-10-06.
Scanning /amandahold...
200 Config set to daily.
501 Host lnxdev is not in your disklist.
Trying host lnxdev.ncci.com ...
200 Dump host set to lnxdev.ncci.com.
Trying disk / ...
Trying disk rootfs ...
Can't determine disk and mount point from $CWD '/var/log/amanda'
amrecover> quit
200 Good bye.

Any idea what it is complaining about, /var/log/amanda esists :

#   ls -ld /var/log/amanda
drwxr-xr-x  4 amanda disk 4096 Oct  6 09:54 /var/log/amanda
