f.y.i I ran a snoop from the client (bkpclient) whilst running an "amcheck -c daily" on the server (tapesvr) and this is what I got:
tapesvr -> bkpclient UDP D=10080 S=980 LEN=125 bkpclient -> tapesvr ICMP Destination unreachable (UDP port 10080 unreachable) tapesvr -> bkpclient UDP D=10080 S=980 LEN=125 bkpclient -> tapesvr ICMP Destination unreachable (UDP port 10080 unreachable) tapesvr -> bkpclient UDP D=10080 S=980 LEN=125 bkpclient -> tapesvr ICMP Destination unreachable (UDP port 10080 unreachable)

Then I would conclude that you have a problem with your inetd configuration.
