below is the error message from the amdump.X. My OS is solaris 8. thanks
for your help.

m5413.drsite.univision.com $ cat amdump.1

changer: opening pipe to: /usr/local/libexec/chg-zd-mtx -info
changer: got exit: 2 str: <none> cannot determine first slot
taper: could not get changer info: cannot determine first slot

You should probably fix the problem too, but that is independent from
the "empty schedule from planner" problem.

planner: time 2.124: got result for host m5413.drsite.univision.com disk
/dumps: 0 -> -1K, -1 -> -1K, -1 -> -1K

Seems that after only 2 seconds planner already got a result,
but there was some problem.
On the client side (apparently the same host as the server for this
test) the details and error messages are stored in /tmp/amanda/*.debug

Can you send those files too. The ones that have the correct
date-time stamp in the filename:
amandad.DATETIME.debug, sendsize.*.debug, runtar.*.debug

I don't remember seeing this, but can you confirm that "amcheck" did not
indicate any errors or warnings?
