I had the same issue with 2.4.5 on a new installation. planner was 
segfaulting, I could not find exactly why. Eventually I reverted to 
2.4.4p4, no change in anything other than version and started working like 
the champ I expect amanda to be.

This was on a Debian stable system with the file driver, gcc 2.95.4-14.
