Amanda +CDRW

Does anyone have a short (or long) checklist of things to get amanda
+cdrw to function well. Currently I am using changer-disk (which is new
to me and kinda cool, lots faster than a robot), but I want to burn
nightly DVDs.
I attempted an install of the taper-cdrw, but couldn't get it to work
quite right. I followed what instructions I could find, but seem to be
missing something.
It errored out on not enough space. do I have to mount the dvdrw first?
What is the exact procedure I should be following. I am reasonably
sure someone else knows exactly what I am talking about, so tell me what
I am missing and make me feel like an idiot.....
