not able to compile

Hi, i' m installing amanda on a solaris 2.6 and i' m not able to compile
the executables......................when i launch /configure it stops
with the following:
  "checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C
compiler   cannot create executables"   and in the config.log i have the
following message " configure:4027: error: C compiler cannot create
executables"
  sorry i' m a BIG novice!
       any help is needed!
