AMRECOVER Version 2.4.4p2. Contacting server on
irixoa06 ...
220 irixoa06 AMANDA index server (2.4.4p2) ready:
500 Access not allowed: [access as amanda not allowed
from root@i...] amandahostsauth failed
Notice those '...'. Why did you obscure that part?
It's just on the place where the important information is.
Or are there really dots in the errormessage?
You have to add a line to .amandahosts like
i... root
The host name should be exactly the same as the errormessage said.
Copy-pasted. Exactly. Verbatim.
I.e. if the error msg was '... from root@irixoa06] ...' then you
need to have:
irixoa06 root
Now, if you posted the error message completely we could have ruled
out that the entry was correct, and maybe you hit some other problem.
One of the really important things to help or debug is having *complete*
information.
