Yes ...

DON'T edit your disklist between the dumps (only edit when you add/modify
DLEs).

Put in ALL your directories just make sure that each DLE (disk list
entry) fits on one tape.

Then let AMANDA do the rest. Add tapes to your cycle to get enough
full backups. AMANDA spreads the data over multiple tapes to get all
the DLEs on the smaller tapes.

AMANDA can't develop any working schedule if you edit the
disklist all the time. Put in all your DLEs and let AMANDA work out
the schedule over at least one dumpcycle.

Get away from that. Why not incrementals?
You could use 2 tapes per run (parameter "runtapes") but then you have
the user manipulation in again.
