Hi,
I am running Amanda 2.4.4 under solaris and a Scalar 100 with LTO drives (LVD interface). I can control the robot all day long with mtx and chg-zd-mtx without problems, but when I do either of the commands listed:
amtape <conf> update
amtape <conf> show
I get errors, sometimes after finding the 4th tape or sometimes before. The command never finishes, instead :
amtape: scanning all 20 slots in tape-changer rack: slot 1: date 20030529 label Label1 slot 2: date 20030610 label Label2 slot 3: date 20030611 label Label3 slot 4: date 20030619 label Label4 slot <error>: could not read result from "/usr/local/libexec/chg-zd-mtx" amtape: could not load slot <none>: chg-zd-mtx: should not get here
This happens even after the unit has been reset with:
amtape <conf> reset
All tapes are loaded and most already labeled. Also I have increased the following values in my chg-zd-mtx.conf file:
poll_drive_ready=05 #### Time (seconds) between tests to see if # #### the tape drive has gone ready (default: 3). # max_drive_wait=200
As a matter of fact, here is the conf file itself:
firstslot=1 #### First storage slot (element) -- required lastslot=20 #### Last storage slot (element) -- required havereader=1 #### If you have a barcode reader, set to 1. # offlinestatus=1
offline_before_unload=1 #### Does your robot require an poll_drive_ready=05 #### Time (seconds) between tests to see if # #### the tape drive has gone ready (default: 3). # max_drive_wait=200 #### Maximum time (seconds) to wait for the
Note: I changed the poll_drive_ready AND max_drive_wait to higher values hoping it would help the problem, but it doesn't. One more interesting item is that when this happens, the picker has already put the last tape away. It is then, before moving down to the next tape, that the error occurs.
Has anyone had these problems?
Thanks!
