Hi,
a little tip:
in the amanda-source-dir is a file called INSTALL, it explains the steps
needed to configure, compile and install amanda.
Especialy it tells you, you have to supply the --with-user=<backup-user> and
--with-group=<backup-group> options to configure.
without these options amanda can not be built.
