Tape won't always eject

Hello,

I have a Sony DDS2 tape drive.  I've got the device set as /dev/nst0.  I
know that's the no rewind device, but occasionally, it won't let me
eject the tape.

I've tried using mt to take it offline, online, etc.  The only way is to
reboot the machine and eject it during startup.  If I wait until it's
rebooted, I'm back in the same situation.

Any ideas?
