Subject: [ADSM-L] Windows and symbolic links

Windows 2012R2 server

TSM 7.1.2.0 client

The customer has a drive with a symbolic link off to a UNC share path. When the
backup runs it backs up the drive, but does not follow the symbolic link and
backup the UNC share. Which is what we really want to accomplish. The
FOLLOWSYMBOLIC=YES is ignored in the DSM.OPT file. I know it says *NIX only,
but I was hoping.

Anybody know of a way to get TSM to follow that symbolic link on the drive?

I think a statement like

domain ALL-LOCAL \\server1\share1

will get the share backed up, if the account used to run backups has the
necessary permissions. The client scheduler service is typically run under the
system account, which typically does not have access to resources owned by
other systems.
