Hi Del!
Our SQL guys did some testing with the new SQL client. When you install
6.4.0 and 6.4.1 afterwards the wizards starts fine.
In fact the following thing changed: In the early days we installed the
TDP client and copied the license file afterwards. This always worked,
but not anymore. When you copy the license file BEFORE installing the
TDP client, the wizard starts fine. So one first has to copy the license
file to C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\TDPSql and then you can immediately
install the 6.4.1 client, which starts the wizard.
This is an acceptable work-around for the SQL guys, the only thing to
keep in mind is that part of the 6.4.1 client is the installation of the
.NET 4.5 framework which requires a reboot! Not very desirable in a
production environment, so this has to be carefully planned.
Anyway, thank you very much for your help!
Kind regards,

Hi Eric,

What happens if you install 6.4.0 first, then follow it with an upgrade
to 6.4.1?

The book is written to follow that method since it is the best practice
method to get the "paid" (base) license installed first, then follow it
with the PTF (fix) package.

This is slightly different than the BA client, since the BA client does
not have the requirement of the license file.

Thanks,

Del
