Is your new library from SpectraLogic?  If so,
perhaps library is doing MLM pre-scan/autodiscovery of 2000 tapes.
Takes a long......................... time to pre-scan 2000 tapes.
Pre-scan process dominates library processing until it completes.
You can turn that off under Config/MLM or stop it under Maint/MLM.

You can set the library to autolabel.
So when it loads a tape and TSM does not find a label on it, it will write the
label.
