Hi Tim,

What does a "dsmc q se" say ? And What about "dsmc sched", in foreground (i 
assume sched is NOT managed by the dsmcad) ? 

Are therei any differencies between the environment used by this interactive 
dsmc and the the services (DSM_* and/or LANG/LC_ALL) ?

That kills it but when I restart the service the dsmsched.log file is not 
created. I deleted it after your kill cmd. Also show no client contact
Attempts in server log.

Have you tried "killing with extreme prejudice" as in "kill -9 4938"?
