Folks,

After sending the message to the list, I became impatient and started
digging deeper into ADSM.ORG.  I found a reference from someone about
checking the volumes out of the library, issuing the move media command and
then checking them back in again.

checkout libvol libname volname checklabel=no remove=no
move media volname stg=stgname wherestate=mountablenotin
checkin libvol libname search=yes status=private checklabel=barcode

I still don't know how the tapes got into the strange state, but they did!
