Thanks Daniel ...
I don't use library ... all the tapes are external.
I didn't receive any message of error. Only the message "ANR1411W Access
mode for volume T10002 now set to read-only due to write error"
I can defined the drive perfect.
I defined a drive as generic (using Native Device drivers), and work fine.
The TSM write the tape T10001 fine. Then I defined again the drive but with
option "Devices Controlled by TSM Device Driver" and only work fine with
the tape T10001 that I used with the generic definition. If I labeling a
new tape I receive the message "ANR1411W Access mode for volume T10002 now
set to read-only due to write error"
I don't know what is the problem, I try to labeling the tapes in different
density and I receive the same message. Is possible that the error is the
density that I use in the tape device ?
I labeling the tapes only with the command prompt whit the follow command:
dsmlabel -drive=mt5.0.0.1 buy when I want to do a new label of the tapes
with the wizards, the message is "Unsupported Operation"

Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate that.

Hi

When you've deleted the drivers from the Control panel, what is the problem
you get when defining the drives to TSM using the the define drive/library
to tsm?

You have to define library, drives and last the device class.

Do you get any errors when defining the drives?

Is the library(what kind of library is it?) defined to tsm using tsm device
management(lbX.X.X.X)?

I still suggest that you upgrade your 4.2.0.0 server software to a higher
level, such as 4.2.1.9 or 4.2.1.8.

If you start the ADSM Device Driver, and then start the TSM Server
Utilities, can you see the four drives and the library under device
information?

Best Regards

Hi

What kind of library are you using?

The problem is probably that NT has installed the DLT drivers that are
included with Windows NT 4.0.

To use the ADSM device driver, you have to remove the NT driver located in
Control Panel >> Tape Drives.

After that, you should manually start the ADSM device driver, and then
define the drives.

One of the problems when using the Generic Tape device, is that you doesn't
always get the right compression level on the DLT drive.

Also, you will miss some features that is included in the DLT device class.

It is not recommendable to use the generic device class. This device class
is normally used for devices that isn't directly support under Tivoli

Hi all ... I have a question, because I have a server TSM 4.2.0.0 in NT 4
SP 6a and 4 drives Quantum DLT8000 and if I use the driver of TSM, doesn't
work.
But if I defined the drives as generic tape and use the driver of operating
system and the TSM work fine.

TSM 4.2.0.0 can work whit Quantum DLT8000 ? There are the drivers of TSM
4.2.0.0 for this drives ?
What is the difference is I define a generic tape and work with drivers of
operating system ? Is this recommendable ?

Thank very much for your answers ...
Regards.
