upgrade IBM 3583 Library
2002-01-16 09:42:42
Hello everybody,
My environment is currently the following:
TSM Server 4.1.4.0 on Windows 2000 Server
IBM 3583 library with two LTO drives and 24 slots
We will be upgrading the library by adding two more drives and 12 extra slots
(hence 4 drives and 36 slots in total).
The website of TSM states 'This library requires advanced device support if
there are more than 30 slots and/or more than 2 drives in the library'. Is the
advanced device support just a license you have to purchase? By which commands
do you add this license?
What are the steps to be performed to upgrade the library in TSM?
1. Define the new drives in TSM
2. How do I tell TSM that there are now more slots he can use? Do I just add
new tapes in the extra slots and then perform an 'LABEL LIBV library_name
SEARCH=YES LABELSOURCE=Barcode CHECKIN=SCRATCH'
3. Verify the results afterwards with 'QUERY DRIVE' and 'QUERY LIBV'
Am I still missing some steps or not? Are there any problems to be expected?
Thanks in advance,
Kurt
