Hello!
Please bear with me, as I am new to Tivoli. i've signed up for the
implementation course, but have had a box delivered to my office with
Tivoli 3.7.0 installed and sort of working, and I need some help.
The server is an IBM S7A with an IBM 7337 DLT Drive. We are running AIX
4.3.3.0 and TSM 3.7.0 .
Question 1. It takes over 5 and a half hours to back up a platry 8gb's
worth of data. The DLT manual says that it can go much faster than that.
I believe that the problem is the "block size" that is being used. Does
Tivoli set the block size itself, or does it use the settings configured in
AIX ?
Question 2. How can I change the block size ? I tried, really I did!
Question 3. I see that 3.7.3.0 is out. I have been told that this is a
BETA release and should not be installed. I'll leave out names to protect
the innocent, but I think that's wrong. Is 3.7.3.0 a BETA release, or is
it just the next set of fixes ?
Question 4. Regarding upgrading to 3.7.3.0 from 3.7.0.0 . The
installation notes for Service Level 3.7.3.0 say that it will run for 60
days without licensing. I have the tivoli.tsm.license.rte 3.7.0.0
installed. Will 3.7.3.0 pick up my existing licensing or will I have to
re-license Tivoli ?
Many thanks for any help! I'm looking forward to being able to contribute
back once I get started with this.
Thanks again!
Michael
