Data compression varies on a 3570. It will depend on the type of data you
are
backing up. I have data compression turned off for the client and I am
getting
around 10 Gb per tape. The reports you see from *SM are based on a 5 Gb
figure.
When you get to 5 Gb it will stay in a filling status until the tape is
full,
at which time it will change to a full status and start using another tape.
Once a tape is full you will see more accurate figure as far as your
compression
is concerned.

Keep in mind binary data will not compress as much. Also make sure the data
compression is turned on for the device at the system level.
