Hi ADSMers,
there is a nt-directory with only one file.
If I restore only the file it takes 1 min.
If I select the directory including the file it takes > 15 min
and it takes > 10 min until the first MediaW.
I use the ADSM-GUI with the option "Do not preserve directory structure",
so I restore in both cases only the file.
Destination for restore is c:\temp.
I restore only active files.
What is your experience with restoring directories of big nt-filespaces ?
How big are your nt-filespaces (number of files, size) ?
examples:
AIX-Server (SP silver node) AIX 4.3.2 with 3494/3590E
ADSM-Server 3.1.2.30
ADSM-Client 3.1.0.8
Number of files in nt-filespace > 660.000
Capacity of nt-filespace: 43 GB (74% util.)
A) Restore without directory
B) Restore directory (1st time)
C) Restore directory (2nd time)
A) B) C)
time before first MediaW (min) 0 11 5
total duration (min) 1 17 11
objects restored 1 1 1
tape mounts 1 4 4
NT-Server NT 4.0 SP5 with DLT
ADSM-Server 3.1.2.50
ADSM-Client 3.1.0.8
Number of files in nt-filespace > 640.000
Capacity of nt-filespace: 52 GB (65% util.)
A) B) C)
time before first MediaW (min) 0 17
total duration (min) 1 25
objects restored 1 1 1
tape mounts 1 3 3
The main problem:
What does the ADSM-Server before the first MediaW,
if I select a nt-directory for restore ?
How to tune it ?
Other problem:
Why ADSM mounts tapes for nt-directories if I use
the option "Do not preserve directory structure" ?
What is your experience with restoring directories of big nt-filespaces ?
How big are your nt-filespaces (number of files, size) ?
Thanks
Andreas.
