Yet another 2 cents:

Before running your background schedule of ADSM, why not check the DHCP
server for clientname and IP addr? One could extract the info from this
table, and parse it on to ADSM config files. This way, no matter what, all
IP addresses are correct for the time the backup/restore  needs to happen.
