You have several options to the backup of the applications look into one of
the following:

ADSM Connect Agents for SQL Server, and Exchange
BMC's SQL-Backtrack for the Sql Server
These solutions are not cheap, so make sure you get out of it, what you are
paying for it.

SMS shouldn't be a problem dumping to disk, then backing up the dump.
