Another thing you might try,to eliminate the disk pool from being the problem is to set the lo and high migration points on the diskpool  to 0. This will force ADSM to bypass the diskpool and go directly to tape. If that works, the problem is in your diskpool sizing.

I would think first that the pool is really too small for the test backup
you are trying to do.  You will also want to exclude the .dsm files as
backing up the dsm file to the dsm file to the dsm file (well, you get the
picture)

The pool is definitely not large enough.  If you were running out of db or
log space, the message would tell you that.
