All,

I am very interested in understanding your requirements for ADSM trending
and monitoring. I am the product architect for Mainstar:Manager/ADSM, a
product dedicated to monitoring and reporting for ADSM environments. We are
currently developing our trending capacity and I am very interested in
receiving your input. I am also an ADSM consultant who has been working
with ADSM since the product was introduced. I am also a
not-as-frequent-as-I-used-to-be contributor to the list. My goal is to
leverage my experience and that of my ADSM colleagues to provide a product
that simplifies the both the day-to-day tasks and strategic planning tasks
associated with managing ADSM environments. I look forward to your
responses.

We have money ear-marked for this product. We are waiting for the next
release which hopefully will start accumulation of server process statistics
and tape/tape drive utilization, etc. We capture this same data today and I
have shown sterling our scripts and access database which tracks this info -
which is published to our internal web site.

When we looked at the product a year ago, they were showing us features for
the current release. From what I saw, the features made it into the current
release. I hope they do as well with server processes, etc.

We need a trending and forecasting tool like this (and throw away the home
grown stuff). But, hey, we also need SAN a heck of alot more.
