Greetings to the ADSM Community:

Manage Data Inc. is pleased to announce the immediate availability
of its new product, the mediaStorehouse. The mediaStorehouse is
implemented using ADSM and CORBA technology. The mediaStorehouse
provides "on-demand" network-enabled storage service. The storage
service, which provides the backup and restore of network-client data,
only comes into existence when a client requests it. No resource
consuming system like NFS is needed.
The storage service is not a node locked system. The storage service is
based entirely on user ID. This means "joe" could store his data to the
ADSM server from his UNIX workstation in New York and get access to the
same data via his Windows-based portable in Tokyo.

ADSM provides the storage technology while CORBA is used to provide the
network technology. The client is implemented entirely in JAVA. The
client is basically a super agent allowing you to backup and restore
anything on your file system. For specialized projects there is a
complete JAVA API available.

The JAVA client, which is provided free of charge, has successfully run
on:
Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, AIX, IRIX 6.5, Linux and is
currently being
tested on MacOS 8.5.
