A customer I am working with has a Sybase database.  The transaction log
is dumped hourly (or sooner if a threshold is reached which triggers a
transaction log dump).  The transaction logs are dumped into a different
management class.  That management class is dumped to disk.

I don't know if that is an alternative for you, but you may consider
dumping your logs to disk.
