Sounding like an ugly situation...
OH... Have you had service on the drives lately ? ? ?
If they did a card pack swap on the drive(s) and didn't get the drive
serial number entered into the configuration of the new card pack...
that will really screw things up ! Everything will look fine & dandy
from AIX but something in the library manager code (or something) just
will NOT allow the drive to function.
Also they could have been made "unavailable" at the library manager
Give this a try from AIX...
mtlib -l/dev/lmcp1 -qD -f/dev/rmt1
***** **** (use your lmcp# & each drive #)
and look for...
AIX> mtlib -l/dev/lmcp1 -qD -f/dev/rmt2
Device Data:
mounted volser.......none.
device category......012E
device state.........Device installed in Library.
Device available to Library.
ACL is installed.
Auto Fill is enabled.
device class.........11
AIX> mtlib -l/dev/lmcp1 -qD -f/dev/rmt3
mtlib: Unable to open device special file /dev/rmt3: Resource
temporarily unavailable
Hope this helps...
Later, Dwight

Dwight,
Thanks for the help. When I do a show libr online=0 on 2 of my 3 drives. I
have checked the errpt but there are no error on the drives. Is there some
other place I should be looking? Sorry for my ignorance in this, but this is
the first time we have come across this problem.
Again thanks for all the help.
