With ADSM HSM you will not need to complete a "FULL" backup.  The
incremental backup that ADSM performs will be sufficient.  The
recommendation you recieved was based on the fact that mosed backup utils do
not store backed up data in an HSM the way ADSM does.  Your system will be
recoverable if the HOTFIX causes a problem.  Just make sure you complete
your incremental backup just before applying the HOTFIX.
