OK, this is really strange. It only works from within dsmc after the
second try!!!

I.e. if I start up dsmc and type the command it fails, just like from the
commandline. However, if I type it again, it works just fine! I didn't
notice this before because I had a 2nd window open where I never got out
of dsmc, so never noticed this.

Sure looks like a bug to me! Why would typing the same command a second
time allow it to work???
