Database Backups

I read Glenn's note a little differently (I'm an old mainframe person and the
word "generations" makes me think generation datasets). Anyway, in case
your asking what I think you're asking, Glenn, to find out how many
"generations" (ADSM refers to them as versions) of a file are being kept you
do a Query Copygroup. If your predecessor didn't create any copygroups other
than the standard default copygroup the command would be:
Query copygroup standard standard standard standard f=D.
The parameter you're looking for is "Versions data exists:"
If this isn't what you were looking for, sorry for taking up everybody's
time. Good luck.

Subject: Re: Database backups
It isn't a setting but rather an action. Information about backups is =
kept
in the volume history file. Periodically, one deletes records from thi=
s
file to clear up database backups. The command is delete volhistory
type=3Ddbbackup todate=3Dtoday-x where x is the number of copies of the=
database backup you want to keep.
For the group, isn't it interesting how these questions run in circles?=
