We use DHCP in our environment. This was a trial and error experience
for us also.

We identify the users computer by last name first initial and office
number.
for example: I work in office number 1212 my nodename is Robinso_C-1212
in the opt's file.
Eventually we want to use the name in the Computer Name entry, limited
to 15 charaters by the the way, so that
ADSM will pull the name from there. If you leave the nodename line out
of the opt's file ADSM will look to the Computer Name defined in the
Network Neighborhood properties for the nodename.

When scheduler runs ADSM server captures the Nodename and IP address of
the client and will use it when the schedule runs to contact the
client.

Good luck -
CR
