Maybe the storage pools don't have any tapes that meet criteria. To check run this select statement: select volume_name,pct_reclaim from volumes where stgpool_name=3D'STG' order by pct_reclaim Put yo

Tapes can also fail to reclaim in you have RESTARTABLE RESTORES hanging around. In this case you will find in the server actlog: ANR1089W Space reclamation terminated for volume xxxxx - lock conflict

Has anyone seen the following activity log message when reclamation runs on a Tapepool. == == Activity Log -- Date and Time Message Date and Time Message -- -- -- 10/12/1999 14:12:33 ANR0984I Process
John, I assume you are talking about the 'cluster m of nnn' messages. Yes, I see them all the time and I ignore them. I don't know what a cluster is. I have never seen a number as high as 353, most o
We recently added a 3494 library (4-3590 drives), which contains all our local tapes. I'm still using 2 stand-alone 3590 drives for our copypool tapes. The device class for the 3494 (3494class) speci

Hello Tina, reclamation can start 1 process per storage pool. It is not dependant on the number of devclass. Regards, René Lambelet - *3543 - *A581 Nestec SA - 55, Av. Nestlé - CH-1800 Vevey Tel: ++4

Unfortunately, that doesn't affect reclamation. It appears reclamation will only process one tape at a time. Oh well... Thanks to everyone who responded. Tina

I have been running ADSM on the AS/400 for about three weeks and everything seems to be going well. Of course there is always that one exception. It seems that reclamation has never run. I left the r

Don, To my knowledge ADSM does not use STGPOOL % figures but rather the volume % figures to determine reclamation candidates. And only for sequential storage pool volumes. Like tape or file. So a Q V

Hi, Donald, My ADSM server is on AIX, but the concepts should be the same for reclamation... Do a "Q VOL STG=TAPEPOOL" where TAPEPOOL is the name of your sequential volume storage pool. Each volume w

Are you running expiration regularly? For your tape storage pool is the mount limit set to at least two? Do you indeed have tapes that qualify for reclamation? (Use QUERY VOLUME). These are some thi

What's the best way to force a reclamation process on sequentional primary storage pool volumes? By performing an EXPIRE INVENTORY and forcing a reclamation prior to a BACKUP STGPOOL, would this save
