I've not worked with the VNX. On a quick search I found this white paper that would seem to be a starting point for replication on the VNX for Oracle: http://www.emc.com/collateral/hardware/white-pap
Hi Everyone, My name is Cornelis van Ginkel and I'm new to this list, but after reading the email correctly, I guess this is the incorrect mailinglist. I work with EMC networker and Avamar and will h

If I change the retention attributes on an existing policy, do the retention attributes apply to that which was backed up prior to making the change? e.g. if I change retention attributes from 1 year

Hi, No, NetBackup does not propagate changes in retention retrospectively. If you need to change retention of existing images, you need to run bpexpdate with the -recalculate switch for the images in

There is no contradiction between your understanding and bpexpdate -recalculate. The original question was about policy settings (not retention levels) and change in the policy will not be propagated

As Mikhail states changing the RL setting within a policy only changes backups from that point on. Changing RL period for the RL itself changes it for all items with that RL. Although the RL has a pe
We’re planning on moving our Master Server from HP-UX to RedHat Linux which shouldn’t be a problem but we would also like to change the ip address. The hostname will remain the same, just

When we did this back in 2011 my reading suggested folks had gotten it to work with IP change but NOT hostname change but we didnt try it. In the end we opted to simply create a new master with new n

We have the scalar i6000 and it IS partitionable. Not sure which one the OP has. Curious - What is "AIR" and how does it avoid the 2 stage import from one master to another? "...I now have the need t

AIR is Automated Image Replication. It is part of the SLP process and utilizes the OST API to replicate the data from one Master to another and merge it in the catalog. It does it in such a way that

We've faced a similar issue too. You could duplicate the tape backups to a new DataDomain storage unit, and then do the import of the disk images on that storage unit (mtree.) That is a bit faster th

We are now using AIR with NBU 7.6.0.1 and DDOS 5.4.1.1. I think AIR was officially supported with NBU 7.6.x.x and DDOS 5.4.x.x. Configuring AIR with DataDomain is not the most straightforward thing.

Note: The i6000 was MY environment NOT the OP's. The OP mentioned Scalar library but not specifically the i6000 nor has he mentioned whether the one he has is actually partitionable. --Original Messa
