Kevin,
I am not sure why there is no write access for ovsuf. Probably because we are not supposed to edit it directly. If you are root, you will always be able to run the command that edit it.
There are several way to change some of the parameters for the daemon (serversetup, ovaddobj, ..) . However all change the parameters in ovsuf as this is the file used when starting the daemons. All this means that being root is a requirement for changing theses parameters.

Extra info:
OK I have rw access to /usr/OV/lrf/netmon.lrf but not to /usr/OV/conf/ovsuf.
In fact both NetView servers show only read access to this file. Any idea why the RO access?

Hi Francois,
I am running this command from the server setup GUI and my map is read-write. Does this not give me write access to these files?
How can I ensure that RFI is ON?

Hi Kevin,
Are you running this as root ?
I think your user has just no write access to either /usr/OV/lrf/netmon.lrf or /usr/OV/conf/ovsuf.

[NV-L] Unable to register /usr/OV/lrf/netmon.lrf |
|
Hello,
We are using NetView 7.1.5 w/ AIX.
When attempting to turn on RFI in probabilistic mode using server setup from GUI, I receive the following…
Command:
/usr/OV/bin/updatelrf netmon -O'/usr/OV/conf/oid_to_type' -m'0' -t'/usr/OV/log/netmon.trace' '-I' '''' -s'/usr/OV/conf/netmon.seed' '-A' '''' '-u' '''' '''' '''' '''' '-h' -K'2'
Output:
Executing 'Set options for netmon daemon' ...
Working...
Updated /usr/OV/lrf/netmon.lrf
ERROR: ORS rejected request: insufficient permissions. (OVs 1-23)
WARNING: Unable to register /usr/OV/lrf/netmon.lrf
Operation has completed
I don't think this error message has much to do with RFI.
Can you enlighten me on this error message?
Thank you kindly,
