Hi Blane,

I don't think you need an endpoint to do that, just ask the domain admins, they surely have a tool (ours use bladelogic) to retrieve this registry key.
I checked with WMI but I couldn't find the information, and I don't see any other way to do that....I haven't found any snmp oid which gives that info either.

If you find another way, le tme know, it could be useful someday.

Denis

Denis,

Thanks for the reply.  I hear you on the registry query, but that would mean I’d need Framework to run a task (or the like).  I was hoping of a way to do without needing an EP, since not all the client’s machines have one as of yet.

Re: [NV-L] remote query of SNMP settings.

Hi,

You can do this through registry as the trap destination setting is a registry key. For example on a windows 2000 server:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\TrapConfiguration\communityname\1\trapdestination

where communityname and trapdestination are the settings of your SNMP service. So the pb is that if you don't know the communities setted on the servers, you will have to retrieve everything under TrapComfiguration to know which trap destination have been configured.

Hope it helps

Denis

Is there any way of checking the trap destination settings (on Windows specifically) remotely (ie via SNMP)?  I’ve got a client requirement to do this so that they don’t have to go server-to-server.

Any suggestions are appreciated, and I thank you in advance…
