RE: [NV-L] Reg netmon daemon

Those are normal messages if you have
little name resolution. The UNRESOLVED are normal too, but probably indicate
that your Netview server has less name resolution than your nework equipment.
You said earlier that netmon stopped
automatically. Do you mean that it failed? When it stops, you should
do an 'ovstatus netmon' to see what reason is given. Did it start again
when you did an 'ovstart netmon'?
Is there a core file? Look in /usr/OV/PD/cores/netmon.
Is FFDC configured to collect data at
a failure? Look in /usr/OV/PD/FFDC. Also look for /usr/OV/log/FFDC.log.
There is a netmon option for tracing
that you might want to turn on. Use serversetup. Then if it fails again,
you will have more data in a file called /usr/OV/log/netmon.trace.
These functions will give you the data
that you need to report the failure to Support.
You can find out more about FFDC in
the Administrator's Guide, chapter 2.

Hi,
I am using AIX server
, the netview version is 7.1.4 with fixpack 4. I have mentioned the details
in the log file, I can able to only identify from the log file that to
include the hostname along with the IP address in the /etc/hosts file.
Please check and advice on this.

Note: Using small /etc/hosts as
only means of hostname resolution (mapping
IP
addresses to hostnames). Tivoli NetView IP Maps may show IP addresses
instead
of
hostnames. You may wish to configure BIND or NIS for hostname
resolution.

Look for error messages in /usr/OV/log/netmon.trace
(\usr\ov\log\netmon.trace).
And if you find some that you don't know how to deal with and want help
from others on the list, I suggest that when you ask your questions next
time that you include your platform (Windows, UNIX variant) and what version
(7.1.4, 7.1.5) and FixPack of NetView (id any) that you are using.
