Hello,

Sorry, you can't just dump forward like that.
Even if you did have all the other OS places where NetView stores data for it's operation,
You are trying to run with code that was not compiled with the new operating system in mind.

You should run throught he normal process of "backup for migration" on V6 system.
Move the resulting /usr/OV.back.v6r1 filesystem to the AIX 5.2 system.
Be sure all the prereqs are met for Netview on AIX, including an active virtual frame buffer
and snmpd being the V1 agent. and then do an upgrade install.

Regards,
Geo.

[nv-l] NetView V6.X and AIX V5.2 compatibility

Hello Iist,

Has anybody tried running NetView V6.X on AIX V5.2 (64 bit) ?

One of our customers wants to dump NetView V 6.X backup from their existing
AIX 4.3.3 server onto their new AIX 5.2 server.

Would this work until such time that the customer upgrades it to NetView V
7.1.4 in the near future ?

Thanks and best regards

Shyam Marathe
