RE: [nv-l] Ping is falling behind

I have a 2 CPU machine and no caching DNS.
My /etc/hosts file has 1304 entries in it. We use a “golden hosts file”
in our environment. Will that have a big impact? If it will I can edit the
hosts file and reduce it.

Scott,
Are you saying you are running this on a single processor box? Polling 30K
interfaces? No caching DNS?
Do you have any of those devices in your /etc/hosts file? How many lines long
is your /etc/hosts file? Is it just the local machine, or has other things been
put in over time?
