Well, I have not tried this, but it may be possible, if you still have
definitions for those collections in snmpCol.conf, and some knowledge of
what's being collected. For example, consider this entry in snmpCol.conf

MIB .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.11 ifInUcastPkts units COUNTER R
O Routers 1200 0.000000 0.000000 xA s 58720263 ALL -

Then the data file in /usr/OV/databases/snmpCollect would be named
ifInUcastPkts.n (where n is some number)
Let's suppose that in this case n = 3.
Then there would be two files in /usr/OV/databases/snmpCollect
      ifInUcastPkts.3 ( the data file)
      ifInUcastPkts.3! (the format file)

In this case the format file ifInUcastPkts.3! contents would be

pkts/sec
COUNTER
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.11
3

As you can see the top line is units, the second the MIB variable data
type, the third is the MIB OID being collected, and the fourth is the
numeric suffix of the file.

That said, I would have thought that if you temporarily removed the data
files. moved them somewhere else for the time being, and restarted
snmpCollect with the appropriate collections resumed, that he would build
similar format (!) files before storing the first piece of data for each
collection. Then you would have models you could use and you would only
have to change line four and the name of the file in order to make format
files which would match your old data.

As I said, I haven't tried it.
Good luck.

Hi List,

In cleaning up the data accumulated by snmpCollect, I deleted by accident
all ID files (file names ending with a "!") /usr/OV/databases/snmpCollect .
Is it possible to recreate them ?

The binary files (containing the data) are recreated automatically, the ID
files are not. If the ID files are not available snmpColDump is not able
to work with the data files.

Thanks
Vriendelijke Groeten, Cordialement, Kind Regards,

Francis
