Drew,
Do you use NIS? Might be another place to check.....check your netsvc.conf
to see what order you are using for lookups.

NetView is most dependant on the reverse lookups as we only
get the IP address with the network packets.

Think this might be something--not getting reverse lookup--although I
figured it would use hosts if it did not get a name in return.

Did you do both a forward and reverse look up on the ip address?
There really is no other place for NetView to get the name....

Me neither, and I found nothing searching the list archives...but then
the strangest things happen here. Ovorsutil -d shows ustivux02 for all
entries. I forgot to mention I did check hosts and did a nslookup. It's
all good.
Just another day in the Twilight Zone....

Never seen this before.
reset_ci rebuilds the ovorsd section of the database. You can check
what;
in it with ovorsutil -d.
Does that show that we think we are on ustivux02 or ustivux01?

If that's correct, then I don't think anything went wrong with the
reset_ci.

Are you certain that the /etc/hosts file on this box is correct and

that
it
matches what's in DNS?
