To make things even easier, you can just mount the iso image under Linux.
Try this:

mount -o loop /path/to/iso /path/to/mount/point

You should then be able to just cd /path/to/mount/point and run the install
with no additional steps.

We don't have CD burner gear readily available (the machine I support is
700 miles away which makes mounting a CD in the burner tough)

In the future I would encourage IBM to avoid these ISO distributions.
Not sure why they did the one off but it was a gotcha for me. But it
does work!

We don't see anything like that here.  You put on all the required RPMs
and
you installed using the special full image  CD for Linux?
