I'm
puttering with HTML and CGI and things with Jetty just don't work as
"advertised" in the books on HTML and CGI. Jetty supports HTML beautifully
until I try to execute a server-side shell script to store data from a
form . I get a popup on my desktop web browser
asking for permission to execute the shell script locally or download
it.
I'm
trying to gather some information from the network operations desk and make it
available for query in real time. Currently they post the data to a log at the
end of the shift. The form fill-in works nicely but I have to
figure out how to store the data at the server end.
Can someone
confirm Jetty does not support CGI in the normal
fashion? Any suggestions on
alternatives for server-side execution in the Jetty environment? Do I have
to implement this in XML as a Jetty Servlet?
