RE: [nv-l] Nv 7.1.4 Installation

Much thanks for your input.  I have three steps to intalling 7.1.4 on
the new box: 1.backup old maps 2.Move from primary to backup 3.Install
w/migrate.  I just completed the backup.  The attachment shows the
output during the backup in case anyone is interested.  I know we don't
do this everyday and I haven't come across docs with output examples of
this. The nvp program lists the existing volume groups and asks the user
to make a selection.

This is exactly what we have on our system.  The /usr/OV directory is
mounted on a separate volume group.  It's all seamless during
installation.

Eric,

It's been a while but what I did was create an OV dir in /usr and a
/usr/OV filesystem on my appvg then mounted it over the /usr/OV dir.
Installation defaulted to /usr/OV in the alternate VG.

Revisiting this topic.  To clarify, what I have is two Volume Groups
(rootvg and nccvg).  What we want to do is install netview in usr/OV
within the nccvg.  I have never run the installation, so I don't know
what to expect with regard to the physical/logical volumes on the box.
So the question is, does netview have to be on the rootvg? Eric

Eric,
No, there is no way to change the default installation directory. That
being said, you can create a softlink from where-ever you want to
/usr/OV and that will be fine. In other words if you have a

/servername/usr/OV directory simply run the following command:

ln -sf /servername/usr/OV /usr/OV

before the installation and it will install into that directory.
