Right after I asked about RFI I foudnt eh documentation. It is a switch I can set int he netmon.conf.
As for the traps, here is what I have.
HealthMonRxStatus {1.3.6.1.4.1.6486.800.1.2.1.16.1.1.6} 6 1 A 0 0 "Status Events"
Trap: generic $G specific $S args ($#): $*
SDESC
Rx Threshold Status
(1) CrossedBelowThreshold
(2) NoChange
(3) CrossedAboveThresholdStatus
EDESC
HealthMonRxTxStatus {1.3.6.1.4.1.6486.800.1.2.1.16.1.1.6} 6 2 A 0 0 "Status Events"
Trap: generic $G specific $S args ($#): $*
SDESC
RxTx Threshold Status
(1) CrossedBelowThreshold
(2) NoChange
(3) CrossedAboveThreshold
EDESC
Alright I see the issue I was receiving the entire line of Trap: generic $G specific $S args ($#): $* and the reason why was cause Ia ctually LEFT that in the event message.
Thanks for helping me see my evil ways.

(1) This is an option on netmon itself. Use serversetup.
(2) The NetView Admin Guide.
But really you are making that harder than it needs to be. If you trapd.conf is correct INCLUDING the specific trap ids, then you won't get "NO FMT"
So what's in your trapd.conf, exactly (cut and paste it)? And what do you see in the trapd.log?

Subject: [nv-l] two questions |
Hello all
Question 1: How do I disable (turn off RFI) in netview for Windows
Question 2: Where is a REALLY good source for defining how to setup OID traps in event configuration in 7.1.4 UNIX. I receive trap with no known format even though I have the entire OID laid out in the xnmtrap configuration area.
Thank
Chris Petrina
